Garner Wilson Bow - CELLO

Weight: 75g, Balance: 9 3/4"

Weight: 75g, Balance: 9 3/4"

Extremely light and nimble, this bow provides a large palate of colors to paint with. When pushed it is punchy and projects easily, pulling sound out with minimal effort. With more delicate passages, this bow truly shines as it is flexible and smooth, allowing for subtleties in the music to shine through. In higher ranges this bow produces a sweet tone that is pleasant for all. In the low ranges this bow creates a dark and warm tone that is very attractive. This bow is ideal for cellos in need of a bow that pulls sound out, allowing for easy projection in any given performance space.

Stamp: Garner Wilson

Round stick, silver & tinsel winding, silver mounted, pernambuco

One of the last of the Hill bow makers, Garner Wilson joined the W.E. Hill & Sons firm at age 16, receiving his training from William Watson and Arthur Bultitude, with frequent advice from William Retford. He left the firm in 1966 and set up his own workshop in Suffolk in 1969, then moved to Dingwall in Scotland in 1989. Wilson's bows for the firm are marked with the numeral 12; his own work is branded 'Garner Wilson'. - Tarisio
