Despite being smaller in size, this cello has a powerful sound that rivals many of the larger cellos in the shop. This instrument is very responsive, making it very smooth and easy to play. The upper register is especially sweet easily singing and imitating the human voice. The lower range is is rich and warm, allowing the player to mold the sound their liking and truly tell a story with the instrument. Music majors and Professionals alike that are in need of a high performing cello with a smaller footprint will be more than pleased with this beautiful instrument.
7/8 size cellos are perfect for those of us with smaller hands, or limitations that preclude playing a full size with ease. The shorter string length makes stretches and double stops easier, and the slightly smaller body size fits smaller people better. Just less cello to wrestle with, but still with super high performance and plenty of power.
I have found that the Szlachtowski cellos, regardless of size, give the musician a lot of room to explore, sculpt and express themselves. These are cellos for the serious musician in all of us.
The spruce grain count is ideal; it tightens towards the center line and broadens out at the flanks. The varnish has nice depth and glow due to the layers of rich caramel browns over honey yellow.

Buying a Cello Online from Linda West Cellos
All of our cellos (except for those on consignment or mezzo-forte instruments) come with a 14-day trial period. Once you receive your new cello, play it for 2 weeks, and if it's not "the one", contact us to discuss a return or replacement. Shipping costs back to us are the buyer's responsibility. Please see our FAQs for complete details.
Most cellos will come with a case and a bow. The pernambuco bow choice will typically be an Arcos Brasil Nickel-mounted bow, value $760. The Carbon option for that same level cello will be something in the same price range as the nickel-mounted pernambuco. If you are shopping from a distance, Linda will select the most compatible bow for your cello by playing the instrument and trying out several bows.
If your instrument says it comes with a brasilwood bow, we have several different bows to choose from, and they are typically priced under $200. The carbon option will be similarly priced. Again, we will hand-select the bow for you if you are shopping online, making sure we select the most compatible bow for your instrument. If you have questions about this please reach out to us.
As for cases, most cellos will come with a standard hard case, which really depends on the availability. We often use Eastman CACL28 or CACL18 cases as our standard case. For more expensive instruments that are noted as coming with a lightweight hardcase, this also depends on what we have in stock, and what your chosen instrument will fit into. We usually are selecting from Gewa Air, Musilia, Otto Musica, Eastman or Century Strings cases in the $1,000 - $1,400 price range. We usually give you a couple options of case and color.
