Digging into this slightly scaled-down Guadagnini pattern rewards you with a meaty, woody low end, and a colorfully, expressive upper register. Well-balanced across the entire register, this cello even sings out nicely in thumb position.  A satisfyingly responsive instrument dynamically. Juicy goodness throughout!

Jan Szlachtowski was born in 1951 in Nowy Targ where he lives and works today. In 1970 he finished technical college of violin making in Nowy Targ where he worked under direction of the old Polish Master- Jozef Bartoszek. Jan honed his violin making skills at William H. Lee workshop in Chicago, where he worked in 1987-1988.

Since 1988 he has been working in Poland at the Bobak workshop. The Szlachtowski cellos are perfect for serious students and young professionals alike. They are always a shop favorite.
