This easy to play and forgiving cello is ideal for a beginner on a budget. It has a smooth and rich tone that is even across all four strings, making it fun to play and listen to while practicing and learning.
The Vivo USA line continues to provide some of our best selling cellos. Hand-crafted in Beijing, China, even the lowest priced models are all solid carved with inlaid purling and ebony accessories (unless noted). We have found that the Vivos always play well beyond their price point. Often earning my ‘Easy’ badge, even the higher priced cellos, such as the Zetoni 200 and 100 line, are frequently easy enough for even beginners to play. This makes the Vivos a perfect investment for beginners who don’t want to outgrow their first instrument, or for more advanced students on a tight budget.
Based in Southern California, Vivos are made in workshops selected by the owner of Vivo, who is a cellist. One of his favorite workshops has a 40-year veteran craftsman who specializes only in cellos. The owner personally hand-selects many of the higher end models, such as the Limited edition cellos. The 1717 Rugeri and 1777 Guadagnini models are a special project for Linda West Cellos hand-crafted following all the dimensions and design nuances of the original.

Buying a Cello Online from Linda West Cellos
All of our cellos (except for those on consignment or mezzo-forte instruments) come with a 14-day trial period. Once you receive your new cello, play it for 2 weeks, and if it's not "the one", contact us to discuss a return or replacement. Shipping costs back to us are the buyer's responsibility. Please see our FAQs for complete details.
Most cellos will come with a case and a bow. The pernambuco bow choice will typically be an Arcos Brasil Nickel-mounted bow, value $760. The Carbon option for that same level cello will be something in the same price range as the nickel-mounted pernambuco. If you are shopping from a distance, Linda will select the most compatible bow for your cello by playing the instrument and trying out several bows.
If your instrument says it comes with a brasilwood bow, we have several different bows to choose from, and they are typically priced under $200. The carbon option will be similarly priced. Again, we will hand-select the bow for you if you are shopping online, making sure we select the most compatible bow for your instrument. If you have questions about this please reach out to us.
As for cases, most cellos will come with a standard hard case, which really depends on the availability. We often use Eastman CACL28 or CACL18 cases as our standard case. For more expensive instruments that are noted as coming with a lightweight hardcase, this also depends on what we have in stock, and what your chosen instrument will fit into. We usually are selecting from Gewa Air, Musilia, Otto Musica, Eastman or Century Strings cases in the $1,000 - $1,400 price range. We usually give you a couple options of case and color.
We know that purchasing a cello online takes an incredible amount of trust, knowledge, and information.
