Colorful throughout with a meaty low end, and a very sweet upper end. Very easy to play. A lovely instrument for someone looking for beautiful old-world tone.
This is a great playing, OLD instrument. Playable shape but with extensive repairs, including sound post patches top and back. If you have questions about this instrument, please contact us.
The repair luthier, Eugenio Praga, was a fine maker of violins and cellos in his own right. He was born in 1847, so repairing an older instrument in 1883 is not out of the imagination. We are not sure whether this is actually a Fernando Gagliano, or not. Some of us feel it might be french.
