From the vendor's site:

The Viola, available in either 15" or 16.5" models, designed and produced by us using state-of-the-art technology, produces a quality of sound easily comparable to that of a wooden instrument whilst offering far greater presence, projection and ease of playing as well as being visually stunning.

"such elegant lines”,”...a perfect finish” , ”...and wonderful to hold.” – initial reactions have been very positive.

The advantages of a Carbon Viola:

- complete insensitivity to fluctuations in atmospheric conditions. (such as in temperature and humidity)

- strength and stability

- visually stunning

- a full and pleasant sound

Details:

The body of the viola is hand crafted using carbon-fiber matting - made in Germany – guaranteed

The interior of the instrument corresponds to that of a traditional wooden instrument; only the cornices are excluded - for two reasons :

1. A conscious decision to create a modern slim design whilst maintaining (mirroring) the form of a traditional
instrument.

2. The cornices of a wooden instrument serve to aid the construction, providing support and enabling the front, sides and bottom to be fixed firmly together. These cornices can dampen the sound are not required when using carbon-fiber.

The sound post, bridge, pegs, chin-rest and tail piece all correspond to that of a traditional instrument.

The f-holes are designed in modern style.

The "Design Line“ instrument is fitted with an NFC composite material fingerboard, which feels exactly like ebony and is completely insensitive to climatic conditions.

Buying a Cello Online from Linda West Cellos

All of our cellos (except for those on consignment or mezzo-forte instruments) come with a 14-day trial period. Once you receive your new cello, play it for 2 weeks, and if it's not "the one", contact us to discuss a return or replacement. For best results during your trial period, we recommend putting your current instrument away and playing only the trial instrument for the full 2 weeks. This allows you to properly adjust to the new instrument's muscle memory, voice and characteristics without constant comparison. All trial returns must be coordinated with Linda West Cellos prior to arranging shipping. We will provide specific packing instructions and monitor weather conditions along the shipping route. Instruments or bows shipped back without authorization may not be eligible for refund if damaged. Shipping costs back to us are the buyer's responsibility. Please see our FAQs for complete details.

Most cellos will come with a case and a bow. If you are shopping from a distance, Linda will select the most compatible bow for your cello by playing the instrument and trying out several bows. As for cases, most cellos will come with a standard hard case, which really depends on the availability. For more expensive instruments that are noted as coming with a lightweight hard case, this also depends on what we have in stock, and what your chosen instrument will fit into. We usually are selecting from Gewa Air, Otto Musica, BAM or Musilia cases in the $1,000 - $1,400 price range. We usually give you a couple options of case and color.

We know that purchasing a cello online takes an incredible amount of trust, knowledge, and information. Therefore, we go the extra mile to make sure that you have as much information about your future cello soulmate as we can possibly provide. We would love to talk to you before you put that cello in your cart and purchase it so we can help you make sure it's going to be the right one for you. Unlike big, 'volume' shops, we are intimately familiar with each cello we have listed, and are experts at cello/player match-making. We are very passionate about making sure you receive the cello that is going to make your playing blossom, and put a smile on your face every time you play.
