This refined Slipek cello beautifully demonstrates why this maker's instruments are increasingly sought after by discerning players. Though more compact than standard proportions, it projects with remarkable authority, offering both physical comfort and tonal excellence. The upper register sings with exceptional sweetness and clarity, while the lower voices speak with vivid warmth and commanding presence. Its shimmering resonance fills performance spaces effortlessly, and the instrument responds with outstanding immediacy to the player's intentions, making it especially rewarding in demanding repertoire.

Tadeusz Slipek, among Poland's most respected contemporary makers, is known for combining classic Cremonese principles with his deep understanding of modern playing requirements. His instruments reflect both his training in the renowned Kraków school of lutherie and his extensive study of historical masterworks. This cello, based on the pattern of Hendrik Jacobs, the distinguished 17th-century Dutch master, demonstrates Slipek's thoughtful interpretation of historical models. While Jacobs himself was known for his expressive adaptation of Amati patterns and exceptional varnish work, Slipek has masterfully reimagined these elements to create instruments that offer both superior playability and sophisticated tonal qualities. The compact dimensions are executed with such skill that they enhance handling while maintaining the full tonal authority expected of a professional instrument.

Buying a Cello Online from Linda West Cellos

All of our cellos (except for those on consignment or mezzo-forte instruments) come with a 14-day trial period. Once you receive your new cello, play it for 2 weeks, and if it's not "the one", contact us to discuss a return or replacement. For best results during your trial period, we recommend putting your current instrument away and playing only the trial instrument for the full 2 weeks. This allows you to properly adjust to the new instrument's muscle memory, voice and characteristics without constant comparison. All trial returns must be coordinated with Linda West Cellos prior to arranging shipping. We will provide specific packing instructions and monitor weather conditions along the shipping route. Instruments or bows shipped back without authorization may not be eligible for refund if damaged. Shipping costs back to us are the buyer's responsibility. Please see our FAQs for complete details.

Most cellos will come with a case and a bow. If you are shopping from a distance, Linda will select the most compatible bow for your cello by playing the instrument and trying out several bows. As for cases, most cellos will come with a standard hard case, which really depends on the availability. For more expensive instruments that are noted as coming with a lightweight hard case, this also depends on what we have in stock, and what your chosen instrument will fit into. We usually are selecting from Gewa Air, Otto Musica, BAM or Musilia cases in the $1,000 - $1,400 price range. We usually give you a couple options of case and color.

We know that purchasing a cello online takes an incredible amount of trust, knowledge, and information. Therefore, we go the extra mile to make sure that you have as much information about your future cello soulmate as we can possibly provide. We would love to talk to you before you put that cello in your cart and purchase it so we can help you make sure it's going to be the right one for you. Unlike big, 'volume' shops, we are intimately familiar with each cello we have listed, and are experts at cello/player match-making. We are very passionate about making sure you receive the cello that is going to make your playing blossom, and put a smile on your face every time you play.
