This exceptional professional cello represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship and musical sophistication. With its open, sweet, and creamy tonal foundation enriched by colorful and complex harmonic layers, this instrument delivers a captivating musical experience that commands attention. The cello's bold and robust projection ensures your voice carries with authority in any performance setting, while maintaining the clean articulation and contained control essential for professional work.

The instrument offers effortless and responsive playability that adapts seamlessly to the most demanding musical passages. Its supple resistance provides the perfect balance between control and freedom, allowing for nuanced expression across all dynamics. The cello speaks easily in high positions with smooth shifts and even response across positions, making it equally suited for lyrical passages and virtuosic displays. The elegant and mature character of this instrument reflects years of careful craftsmanship and selection.

Built for the serious professional, this cello excels in solo work while maintaining exceptional blend capability for chamber music and orchestral performance. Its reliable and consistent response, combined with sophisticated tonal complexity, makes this instrument an investment in a lifetime of musical expression. The rich tenor voice mentioned in our evaluation speaks to the instrument's ability to sing with both power and intimacy.

The maker, Tadeusz Slipek, among Poland's most respected contemporary makers, is known for combining classic Cremonese principles with his deep understanding of modern playing requirements. His instruments reflect both his training in the renowned Kraków school of lutherie and his extensive study of historical masterworks. This cello, based on the pattern of Hendrik Jacobs, the distinguished 17th-century Dutch master, demonstrates Slipek's thoughtful interpretation of historical models. While Jacobs himself was known for his expressive adaptation of Amati patterns and exceptional varnish work, Slipek has masterfully reimagined these elements to create instruments that offer both superior playability and sophisticated tonal qualities. The compact dimensions are executed with such skill that they enhance handling while maintaining the full tonal authority expected of a professional instrument.

Buying a Cello Online from Linda West Cellos

All of our cellos (except for those on consignment or mezzo-forte instruments) come with a 14-day trial period. Once you receive your new cello, play it for 2 weeks, and if it's not "the one", contact us to discuss a return or replacement. Shipping costs back to us are the buyer's responsibility. Please see our FAQs for complete details.

Most cellos will come with a case and a bow. If you are shopping from a distance, Linda will select the most compatible bow for your cello by playing the instrument and trying out several bows. As for cases, most cellos will come with a standard hard case, which really depends on the availability. We often use Eastman CACL28 or CACL18 cases as our standard case. For more expensive instruments that are noted as coming with a lightweight hardcase, this also depends on what we have in stock, and what your chosen instrument will fit into. We usually are selecting from Gewa Air, Otto Musica, Eastman or Century Strings cases in the $1,000 - $1,400 price range. We usually give you a couple options of case and color.

We know that purchasing a cello online takes an incredible amount of trust, knowledge, and information. Therefore, we go the extra mile to make sure that you have as much information about your future cello soulmate as we can possibly provide. We would love to talk to you before you put that cello in your cart and purchase it so we can help you make sure it's going to be the right one for you. Unlike big, 'volume' shops, we are intimately familiar with each cello we have listed, and are experts at cello/player match-making. We are very passionate about making sure you receive the cello that is going to make your playing blossom, and put a smile on your face every time you play.
