A Guadagnini pattern cello with colorful, complex tone and bold, clean projection that stays beautifully balanced across its range. Malleable and easy to play, with supple resistance that responds readily to bow speed and handles high positions with ease.

The character is mature and nuanced—an instrument with consistency you can rely on. It blends exceptionally well with other instruments, making it ideal for chamber music and orchestral settings.

Ideal for: Suitable for all levels of student looking for an instrument that will grow with them and support musical development without getting in the way.

The 'Simpson' Guadagnini is a bit scaled-down instrument; slightly shorter body, slightly shorter string length than a full size, slightly more narrow in the bouts, making it more compact than a 4/4, but not quite as small as a 7/8.

Full Size (4/4), Crafted in 2026, New

This 1777 Guadagnini replica was designed and built specially for Linda West Cellos of select European tonewoods. The instrument's refined scaling makes it ideal for players seeking more manageable proportions without compromising tonal sophistication.

Cello comes with a hard case and a nice bow.

All cellos are setup by Linda and played before being shipped, guaranteed.

Buying a Cello Online from Linda West Cellos

All of our cellos (except for those on consignment or mezzo-forte instruments) come with a 14-day trial period. Once you receive your new cello, play it for 2 weeks, and if it's not "the one", contact us to discuss a return or replacement. For best results during your trial period, we recommend putting your current instrument away and playing only the trial instrument for the full 2 weeks. This allows you to properly adjust to the new instrument's muscle memory, voice and characteristics without constant comparison. All trial returns must be coordinated with Linda West Cellos prior to arranging shipping. We will provide specific packing instructions and monitor weather conditions along the shipping route. Instruments or bows shipped back without authorization may not be eligible for refund if damaged. Shipping costs back to us are the buyer's responsibility. Please see our FAQs for complete details.

Most cellos will come with a case and a bow. If you are shopping from a distance, Linda will select the most compatible bow for your cello by playing the instrument and trying out several bows. As for cases, most cellos will come with a standard hard case, which really depends on the availability. For more expensive instruments that are noted as coming with a lightweight hard case, this also depends on what we have in stock, and what your chosen instrument will fit into. We usually are selecting from Gewa Air, Otto Musica, BAM or Musilia cases in the $1,000 - $1,400 price range. We usually give you a couple options of case and color.

We know that purchasing a cello online takes an incredible amount of trust, knowledge, and information. Therefore, we go the extra mile to make sure that you have as much information about your future cello soulmate as we can possibly provide. We would love to talk to you before you put that cello in your cart and purchase it so we can help you make sure it's going to be the right one for you. Unlike big, 'volume' shops, we are intimately familiar with each cello we have listed, and are experts at cello/player match-making. We are very passionate about making sure you receive the cello that is going to make your playing blossom, and put a smile on your face every time you play.
